Sam’s Club in-store sampling business – the keystone of their customer experience – was completely shut down during Covid, meaning a 50MM business went to zero. To preserve this important engagement, we stood up a brand new digital demos program within weeks of the pandemic’s onset, quickly evolving from in-house talent in a test kitchen to a fully fleshed out studio practice that created several videos a week. Shoppers scanned QR codes on custom carts to instantly view a unique video that delivered the same Engagement Specialist experience as well as shopping lists, recipes, even cart integration. We not only retained crucial business from suppliers (actually growing it to the tune of 60MM), the program proved so popular that it last past the pandemic restrictions, expanding to include traditionally “non-demo-able” items like flooring, electronics, services and more!
